My specialty
Getting older doesn't mean your hair has to get lighter.
That idea is false, and chasing it usually backfires. Take naturally dark hair with gray scattered through it and lighten it all over, and the result is hair that's constantly chasing warm, brassy tones, plus a harsh regrowth line where dark root shows through — not just the gray.
Blending the gray in as its own highlight, rather than lightening everything, grows out far softer.
Color as contour
Color is a tool to contour your face, not just change your hair tone.
Placement can draw focus to the eyes and cheekbones, add depth and shadow to soften a jawline, or create the appearance of hollowed cheeks — the same way makeup contouring works, but built into the color itself.
Root touch-up results
Soft, blended roots — no harsh line.

Before
AfterGray blending
A modern approach to softening the amount of gray in your hair. What makes it modern is that it works with your hair's natural light and dark patterns instead of against them — like a translucent stain that adds color to your gray while leaving your dark hair as it is. Complete gray coverage is also available if you prefer.
Precision haircutting
A haircut that works with the way your hair naturally lays, never against it. Cutting with an eye for how it wants to fall creates easy hair days — working against the hair always creates friction and more styling time. Each stage of growth stays manageable, and factoring in your face shape means we can create shapes that lift your face, soften your jaw, or make a large forehead look smaller.
Scalp care
The scalp is the source of your hair. I help you maintain a healthy scalp microbiome that gives healthy hair room to thrive. When scalp health is neglected, new growth is stifled, leading to lower density, itching, and irritation.
When it's done poorly
Chasing a trend or recreating someone else's color and cut is one of the most common mistakes — that person's hair doesn't have your growth patterns, and their gray doesn't show up where yours does. A cookie-cutter reproduction of someone else's look won't grow out or last well on you.
Gray blending done incorrectly leads to brassiness as the color fades, a harsh root line as it grows out, and color that looks flat and inky without shine or vibrance.
A haircut without precision doesn't grow out well — each stage looks unfinished and needs frequent trims. Without factoring in face shape, a cut can add width where you want softness or emphasize a feature you'd rather balance.
When scalp health is neglected, dead skin, sebum, oil, dirt and product buildup combine with minerals and get trapped in the follicle, where they oxidize and irritate the skin — throwing the microbiome out of balance and stifling new growth.

This might not be the right fit if…
- –You want your hair colored to gray — that's a gray transformation service, which isn't something I offer.
- –You're set on duplicating a celebrity's exact look — chances are that photo involved extensions or a wig, plus a hair and makeup touch-up seconds before the shutter clicked.
- –You're not willing to try a new way of styling your hair — even if it would save you time.
- –You're not willing to cut back on dry shampoo to keep your scalp clean and healthy.

Maintenance: gray blend and precision cutting clients typically come back every 5 to 7 weeks. Every guest leaves with a personalized at-home care plan tailored to their hair and scalp — not a generic product list.
Questions, answered.
How often will I need to come back for maintenance?
Gray blending touch-ups are typically every 5 to 7 weeks. Precision haircuts vary more — usually every 4 to 10 weeks, depending on your hair length and how quickly your style grows out. If you have longer hair, you'll often need a root touch-up before you're due for another haircut. You'll also leave with a personalized at-home care plan tailored to your hair and scalp.
Should I start going lighter with my hair color now that I'm getting older?
No — that's a blanket statement people have repeated forever, and it's never been the right answer for everyone. How you color your hair should depend on what color your hair actually is coming out of your scalp, not your age. The bigger the gap between your color and your natural regrowth, the more contrast you create — and that contrast means more upkeep, more brassiness, more damage, and more appointments. Instead, I can add balayage highlights as accents that brighten your face and lighten your overall color, while keeping your all-over base shade one that grows out seamlessly and easily.
Is it okay if I work on my laptop or take a phone call during my appointment?
Absolutely — you're in a completely private space, so no one will hear your conversation. Wi-Fi is available, and I can turn down or mute the music so whoever you're speaking with will believe you're by yourself. I just ask for your full attention during the consultation, and that calls be taken with earbuds or on speakerphone rather than held up to your ear while I'm working. I may also ask you to close your laptop during the actual haircut, so you don't end up with hair in your keyboard.
“I always liked that you used both bleach and color to get the dimension — so many of my friends' highlights just look flat. You can definitely be trusted to do great color, even if it means mixing multiple things to achieve that.”
“I travel an hour to get to Ray's salon, passing many salons along the way. The one thing I know is my color looks consistent all the time, my haircut is easy to manage, and my hair always looks healthy. I get so many compliments — and at my age, that's a good thing.”
“I have been getting superior service from Ray for over 20 years. He has taken me through all stages of hair changes from dyed to highlighting to gray. His specialty is providing hair care service to people over 40 and he excels at that. For me, the most important characteristic is that he truly listens to you and adapts to your needs.”
“Ray is a true hair artist, meticulous and amazing at his craft. A year into seeing him, I'm still amazed that on 'lazy' days, my hair falls almost perfectly with just a wash and air dry, even if I don't style it.”
